The Amazon.com subsidiary, which has more than 1.6 billion active monthly active users, makes and sells massage machines for women’s and men’s massages and erotic massage.
The device, which is the same as the one used in traditional massage parlours, has a small handle on one end that lets users reach a large rotating rotating shaft on the other.
Amazon says the product is designed for “the perfect, personalized massage experience for your needs.”
It’s designed to allow for a full range of motions and massage patterns and it uses a vibrator that has a special vibration for better stimulation, said an Amazon spokesperson.
The company sells a wide range of massage devices, including “massage chair” and “massaging machine” models, and said in January it had sold over $8 billion in massage products in 2017.
“Amazon’s Amazon Massage Machines are designed for the perfect, customized massage experience” for women and men, said a company spokesperson in a statement.
The spokeswoman added that Amazon has not provided further information about the product.
The Amazon spokesperson said the company’s Amazon massage machines are also available in other countries, including China and Taiwan.
Amazon said in an email it does not market its products for sale or sell them in the U.S. or Canada.
“If you’re not sure what the price is, we encourage you to contact your local Amazon store for the best price and delivery options,” the spokesperson said.
A spokesperson for Amazon did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
A Canadian massage shop owner said she was surprised when she received the email informing her of the sale.
“I had no idea what was going on,” she said.
“It was pretty bizarre.
I thought, what the heck?
It’s Amazon and it’s a massage, and I’m in the United States.
I didn’t know what to do.”
The salesperson for the Toronto-based shop said she’s had no complaints about the sale, and was unaware of the company making other similar claims about the device.
But the shop owner also noted that Amazon’s product line is not new and she wasn’t sure if the company had already sold the product before.
“The only thing I can really do is wait for the reviews,” she told CBC News.
“That’s the biggest thing.”
